Where the heck have I been?

A follower recently reached out and kindly asked “Hey, I noticed you hadn’t been posting for several months. Are you OK?”

Short answer: I had to pull back to restore my health.

For those who know me, you know I’ve been a workaholic my entire life. I’m not proud of that and it has caused a lot of pain in my life. It got me again. At the end of 2023, I was pushing really hard to get a lot of things launched in 2024.

  • KC Foodways supporting the major efforts in Kansas City to build a sustainable food shed. There’s a lot of different initiatives out there!

  • Launching the National Alliance of Local Food Producers, trade group, if you will, for small food producers (growers, makers, distributors)

  • Creating and publishing content for each of those efforts

  • Serving small food producers, however I can

I take pretty good care of myself. But I continue to learn that no matter the will, we have physical limits as we age. I pushed too hard and my mind and body crashed. I needed to take some time to rest and recover.

I’m healthy now, but wiser. I’m slowly getting back to the original plan, with less intensity. 😉

You know the saying “things happen for a reason.” Well, with the people I’ve met (and served) these last few months, I’m glad this all happened. Lots of great collaborations on the horizon.

Here’s to unifying local food in Kansas City!
